John Tabb

JOHN R. TABB, 82, of Arcola, IL passed away at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Arthur Home.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Edwards Funeral Home. Rev. Van McQueen officiated. Burial was in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the funeral home.

John was born on January 3, 1931 in Newton, IL. He was a son of John D. and Gladys Marie (Foltz) Tabb. He married Mildred A. Frohning on February 27, 1954 in Newton, IL.

Survivors include his wife Mildred Tabb of Arcola, IL, six sons, Steve Tabb and his wife Julie of Camby, IN, Jeff Tabb of Hindsboro, IL, Jim Tabb of Champaign, IL, Tim Tabb and his wife Cindy of Arcola, IL Mike Tabb and his wife Becky of Tuscola, IL and Andy Tabb and his wife Connie of Arthur, IL; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, George Tabb and his wife Joann of Robinson, IL; two sisters, Lois Mackey and her husband Robert of West Terre Haute, IN and Shirley Jester and her husband Tom of Jewett, IL and one brother-in-law, Van McQueen of Newton, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son John Michael Tabb, one grandson Tanner Tabb and one sister Dorothy McQueen.

John was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.

He was employed at USI/Quantum Chemical in Tuscola for over thirty eight years and retired in 1992.

John was an avid reader, a good carpenter and mechanic. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
