JOHN A. WIEKERT, 86, of Tuscola, IL entered his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 where he was greeted by family and friends whom were already there waiting for him.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main in Arcola, IL. Rev. Patty Johansen will officiate. Burial will be in the Tuscola Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the funeral home. Public Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Tuscola Masonic Lodge 332 A.F. and A.M. at 7:45 P.M. on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the funeral home.

John spent his younger years in Western Illinois around the Emden and Delavan area. In 1944 he relocated to the Tuscola area where he married Patty Lou Tuttle on May 14, 1944. He engaged in farming in the Douglas County area until the mid-1970s then he went to work for DeKalb Seed in Tuscola. He retired in 1990.

John was a member of the Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church and the Tuscola United Methodist Church. He enjoyed serving Christ, helping with Habitat For Humanity and Sam’s Food Pantry.

John was a member of the Tuscola Masonic Lodge 332 A.F. and A.M. for over sixty two years. He enjoyed working in his flower garden and spending time with family and friends.

John’s wife Patty passed away on May 21, 1999 and he later married Betty Hoffman Randell on November 18, 2000.

He is survived by his wife Betty Wiekert of Tuscola, IL; three sons, John T. Wiekert and his wife Doris of Tuscola, IL, Willis W. Wiekert and his wife Carol of Atwood, IL and Ralph F. Wiekert and his wife Keri of South Beloit, IL; four grandchildren, Chad Wiekert of Indianapolis, IN, Wesly Wiekert and his wife Sarah of Sullivan, IL, Gloria Wiekert and Andrew Wiekert both of South Beloit, IL

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Patty, an infant daughter and an infant son, seven sisters and one brother.

Memorials may be made to Provena Hospice, Sam’s Food Pantry, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Donor’s Choice.
