Jonas Miller

JONAS A. MILLER, 93, of Hindsboro, IL passed away at 2:47 A.M. on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Kemp Church of Christ in Kemp, IL. Rev. Ty Nicol and Rev. Joe Diener will officiate. Burial will be in the VanVoorhis Cemetery in Hindsboro, IL. Visitation will be from 2:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Edwards Funeral Home.

Jonas was born on October 7, 1915 in Douglas County, IL. He was a son of Ammon B. and Mattie A. Miller. He married Fannie J. Kauffman on September 18, 1947 in Arthur, IL.

He is survived by his wife Fannie Miller of Hindsboro, IL; five children, Kenneth Miller and his wife Carol of Arthur, IL, Raymond Miller and his wife Brenda of Tuscola, IL, William Miller of Charleston, IL, Larry Miller and his wife Martie of Hindsboro, IL and Kathryn Cozart and her husband O.J. of Mt. Vernon; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eli Miller of Arthur, IL and Dannie Miller of Garrett, IL; one sister Edna Miller of Middlebury, IN and one sister-in-law, Nona Miller of Middlebury, IN.

His parents, one son-in-law, Greg Kirby, four brothers, Alvin, Elmer, Sammie and Ben Miller and one sister, Lizzie Ann Bontreger, preceded him in death.

Jonas farmed for many years. He also worked as a carpenter and had a woodworking shop. He made fine furniture and grandfather clocks. He played the guitar, harmonica and violin and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Kemp Church of Christ or Lincoln Land Visiting Nurses.
