JOSEPH JOHN HORNLEIN, 72, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 6:56 P.M. Friday, October 8, 2010 at his residence.
Graveside service were held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the Tuscola Township Cemetery. Rev. Robert Hartley officiated. The Edwards Funeral Home assisted Joe’s family with arrangements.
Joe was born June 28, 1938 in General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was the son of Joseph Alexander and Edith (Thomas) Hornlein. He married Jackie Brown on April 16, 1981.
Survivors include his wife Jackie from Tuscola, IL one daughter and step-daughter, several grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one brother and one sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and a son.
Joe was in the US Navy for 11 years earning a rank of Petty Officer third class serving on the USS Smalley.
Joe had many different jobs through his life. When he came to Tuscola in the 1970’s he worked for a demolition company. He met Jackie and decided to stay in Tuscola. He worked for Snyder roofing for 25 years.
Joe was a member of the Moose. He collected Case knives and Zippo lighters. He liked to watch NASCAR races and he was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials were made to the American Cancer Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
