Joseph Poorman

JOSEPH WILLIAM “BILL” POORMAN, 87, of Humboldt, IL passed away at 7:35 P.M. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at his residence.

Private services will be held.  Pastor Mitch Ramey will officiate.  Burial will be in the Humboldt Cemetery.  The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Bill was born on August 15, 1930 in Humboldt, IL.  He was a son of Glenn M. and Marie (Munson) Poorman.  He married Kathryn Joan Gilmer on April 13, 1954 in Cooks Mills, IL.

Survivors include his wife Joan Poorman of Humboldt, IL, eight children, Candis Marie Stein and her husband Bill, Glenn M. Poorman and his wife Carla, Delphine Jade DiGioia and her husband Kenneth, Willene Jo White and her husband Brian, Charity Gil Blagg and her husband Brian, John W. Poorman and his wife Christie, Damon J. Poorman and his wife Connie and Poppy Ann Graham and her husband J.D., 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and one brother, Albert Earl Poorman and his wife Lisa of Kearney, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, infant twins, Glendolyn Butler, Russell Poorman, Ruth Duncan, Edsel Poorman and Dick Poorman, and one great-grandchild, Lucian White.

Bill was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War.

Bill farmed for many years, he retired from Blaw-Knox in Mattoon and served as Sexton of the Humboldt Cemetery for several years.

Bill was an avid Oakland Raiders fan.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Humboldt Cemetery or Lincolnland Hospice.
