Biography

KAREN L. SCHULTZ, 71, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 10:55 P.M. Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Bourbon Baptist Church. Rev. David Smith will officiate and burial will be in the Bourbon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main Street, Arcola, IL.

Karen was born August 11, 1941 in Decatur, IL. She was a daughter of Glenn Lester and Goldia Juanita (Dial) Boyd. She married Charles Stanley Schultz on July 29, 1962 at the Zion Church of Christ in Arthur, IL.

Survivors include her husband Stan Schultz of Tuscola, IL; 5 children Kelly Whittington and her husband Rich of Tuscola, IL, Mitchell Schultz and his wife Michelle of Tuscola, IL, Nikki Hausmann of Tuscola, IL, Stacy Goodman and her husband Mike of Arthur, IL and Lisa Malan and her husband Mark of Rochester, MN; 1 brother Mac Boyd of Arcola, IL; 3 sisters Juanita Parrott and her husband Gene of Arthur, IL, Phyllis Baker and her husband Wally of Pryor, OK and Becky Hausmann and her husband Dave of Wagoner, OK; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Duane Glenn Boyd.

Karen was a member of Bourbon Baptist Church where she served as song leader for 43 years. She also sang with the Alleluia Choir. She and her husband had belonged to a card club and a square-dance club many years ago.

Karen worked as a self-employed beautician in Hindsboro and Bourbon. She later became a Homemaker and Mom and had worked at the Matinee store in Tuscola, IL. Later Karen worked at the Prairie Country Credit Union in Tuscola and retired from there with over 20 years of service.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband, recently visiting Scotland. Karen enjoyed watching her grandchildren in all of their activities and was very Family oriented. Being a mother was always her number one priority.

Memorials may be made to the Bourbon Baptist Church or the Carle Development Foundation-Oncology Department.
