Kathleen Shaw

KATHLEEN M. SHAW, 74, of Wentzville, MO formerly of Arcola, IL passed away at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at her residence.

Funeral will be held 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Edwards Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Ivan Jess will officiate.

Kathleen was born on December 2, 1940 in Arcola, IL. She was a daughter of Mike B. and Edith L. (Quate) Thomas. She married Max Shaw on November 1, 1959 in Arcola, IL.

Kathleen is survived by her husband Max of Wentzville, MO, four children, Michael Shaw (Mandy) of Austin, TX, David Shaw (Beth) of St. Louis, MO, Robert Shaw of Wentzville, MO and Amy Shaw of Wentzville, MO; three grandchildren, Jarid Shaw, Rylin Moore and Alysha Dupree and one sister, Patricia Hurley (Larry) of Mills River, NC.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Byrl Thomas, and three sisters, Charlene Thomas, Gail Williams, and Charlotte Parrill.

Kathleen was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Arcola, IL where she taught Sunday school for many years. Her faith sustained Kathleen during the many difficulties she encountered during her later years. Her church and faith gave her many friends and lots of fond memories.

She worked in various jobs in her life that included telephone operator, central supply at Burnham hospital, and at the Arcola, IL Littlefuse. One of her proudest moments was being accepted into, and briefly studying, nursing at Parkland College.

Kathleen enjoyed shopping at the Goodwill and eating at new restaurants. She was an avid reader, garage saler, and bargain seeker. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed lots mutual teasing with her kids.
