Kathryn Bontreger

KATHRYN “KATIE” BORNTREGER, 90 of Arthur, IL passed away at 2:25 P.M. on Monday, March 20, 2017 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the HCK West Building, 2008 CR 1800 East, one mile south of Arthur, IL. Bishop Raymond S. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Otto Cemetery in rural Arthur, IL. Visitation will be held any time after 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the HCK West Building and any time after 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the HCK West Building. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Katie was born on February 16, 1927 in Plain City, OH. She was a daughter of Menno E. and Emma (Beachy) Herschberger. She married Roman N. Borntreger on November 30, 1950 in Arthur, IL. They Lived in Holy Matrimony for 50 years. He passed away on March 25, 2001.

To this union were born 5 sons and 5 daughters. Laverne, at home, Sara (Mrs. Andy Ray Mast) of Arthur, Arlene (Mrs. Simon Miller) of Arthur, Joe (Tammi Tucker) of Venice, FL, David (Anna Mae Mast) of Orrville, OH, Allan (Rebekah Diener) of Oakland, Betty (Mrs. Ben Graber) of Sullivan, and Ruth (Mrs. Marcus Stutzman) of Arthur, IL, 31 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 27 step great-grandchildren, 6 step great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Amanda (Mrs. Elmer Miller.)

Katie was preceded in death by her husband Roman, 1 son Willard, 1 daughter Mary Kay, her parents, twin grandsons, 1 granddaughter, Louise (Mrs. Mervinn Miller), 1 son-in-law Andy Ray Mast, 1 great-grandson, 2 great-granddaughters, 2 sisters and 4 brothers

Katie was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
