Katie Jess Miller

Katie (Herschberger) (Jess) Miller, 90 years, 10 months, 6 days, of Arthur, IL passed away at 11:30 P.M. on Monday, May 9, 2022 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Friday, May 13, 2022 at the HCK West Building, one mile south of Arthur, IL.  Bishop Larry Helmuth will officiate.  Burial will be in the Yoder Cemetery in rural Arthur, IL.  Visitation will be held anytime after 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 and anytime after 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the HCK West Building.  The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.  

Katie was born on July 3, 1931 in Arthur, IL.  She was a daughter of Christen E. and Amelia J. (Bontrager) Herschberger.  She married Lester Jess on November 2, 1950 in Arthur, IL.  He passed away on October 2, 1976.  She later married Ammon L. Miller on June 4, 1992 in Arthur, IL.  He passed away on June 13, 2002.

She leaves to mourn her departure, seven children, Viola Plank of Arthur, IL, Elva Jess of McHenry, IL, Elsie Gingerich and her husband Ira of Arthur, IL, Chris Jess of Arthur, IL, Reuben Jess and his wife Loretta of Arcola, IL, Ella Miller and her husband Ervin of McBain, MI and Glenn Jess and his wife Irma of Arthur, IL, one son-in-law, Lavern Hochstetler of Arcola, IL, two step children, Lorene Chupp and her husband Omer of Arthur, IL and Noah Miller and his wife Edna Mae of Arthur, IL, 42 grandchildren, 126 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, ten siblings, Irma Schrock and her husband Andy of Bloomfield, IA, Eli Herschberger and his wife Anna of Arthur, IL Ella Diener and her husband Ben of Arthur, IL, Lydia Mae Yoder and her husband Levi of Watomma, WI, Monroe Herschberger and his wife Verna of Sullivan, IL, Fannie Helmuth and her husband Orie of Statesville, NC, Chris Herschberger Jr. of Bloomfield, IA, Viola Jess and her husband Andy of Humboldt, IL, Mary Yoder and her husband Andy of Ava, IL and Oba Herschberger of Sullivan, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Lester Jess and Ammon Miller, one daughter, Lorena Hochstetler, one son-in-law, Willis Plank, five grandchildren, one stepson, Willis Miller, two brothers, Ervin Herschberger and Levi Herschberger and one sister, Sarah Graber.

Katie was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
