Katie Kauffman

KATIE KAUFFMAN, 98 of rural Tuscola, IL passed away at 7:15 P.M. on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the Arthur Cemetery. Rev. Glen Rhodes will officiate. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting Katie’s family with arrangements.

Katie was born on December 8, 1912 in Douglas County, IL. She was a daughter of Jonathan and Lovina (Kauffman) Plank. She married Fred J. Kauffman on November 28, 1933 in Coles County, IL. He passed away on January 21, 1959.

She is survived by one son, Paul Kauffman and his wife Lillian of Arthur, IL; two grandsons, Russell Dean Kauffman and his wife Peggy of Huntsville, AL and Rodney Lynn Kauffman of Sullivan, IL and three great-grandchildren, Emily, Zowie and Joshua Kauffman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a stillborn daughter, twelve half siblings, William H., Emma, Mary, Lydia Mae, Jonas, Minnie, Sadie E., Ida, Louis, Elias M. , Magdalena and Joseph and seven siblings, Jacob, Elizabeth, Fannie, John, Stephen, Susie and Jonathan, Jr.

Katie was a faithful member of the Arthur Mennonite Church for over 60 years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arthur Mennonite Church.
