Biography

KATIE J. YODER, 86, of Arthur, IL passed away at 3:01 A.M. Sunday December 5, 2010 at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Arthur Mennonite Church, 710 East Park Street in Arthur, IL. Rev. Glen Rhodes officiated. Burial was in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation was from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Arthur Mennonite Church. The Edwards Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

Katie was born on May 30, 1924 in Arthur, IL. She was a daughter of Jacob W. and Lydia (Kauffman) Blucker. She married Willis E. Yoder on May 14, 1944 in Arthur, IL.

She is survived by her husband, Willis Yoder of Arthur, IL; two children, Judy Jones and her husband Bob of Mattoon, IL and Gary Yoder and his wife Judy of Decatur, IL; nine grandchildren, Garth Jones, David Simmons, Victoria Christie and her husband Rick, Aaron Simmons, Andrew Simmons and his wife Kari, Jared Yoder, Tiffany Navarrete and her husband Jose, Ashley Yoder and Bethany Yoder and 10 great-grandchildren; one brother John Blucker and his wife Evelyn of Sturgis, MI; one sister, Maranna Chupp and her husband Jake of Arthur, IL and one sister-in-law, Mary Blucker of Nappanee, IN.

Her parents, one grandson, Tyler Jones, one brother, Martin Blucker and two sisters, Irene Yoder and Elizabeth Beachy preceded her in death.

Katie had worked at the Arthur Schools, the Arthur Home and retired from the Dutch Kitchen restaurant in Arcola, IL with twenty-six years of service.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, walking and biking.

She was a member of the Arthur Mennonite Church and really appreciated her church family.

Katie also enjoyed living at Eberhardt Village and was thankful for the staff and friends she made there as well as the Arthur Home.

Memorials were made to the Arthur Mennonite Church or Eberhardt Village.
