Larry Dean Christensen Sr.

LARRY DEAN CHRISTENSEN SR., 79 of Mattoon, IL passed away at 12:42 P.M. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. 

A private celebration of Larry’s life will be held at a later date. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Larry was born on March 27, 1945 in Mattoon, IL, a son of Elton James and Nelle Eileen (Farris) Christensen. He married Linda Marie Siddens on July 21, 1989 in Dietrich, IL.

Larry is survived by his wife Linda; two sons, Doug (Kristy) Heinbaugh, and Christopher (Tiffany) Heinbaugh, all of Mattoon, IL; four grandsons, Jordan (Lexie) Heinbaugh of Savannah. GA, Dillon Heinbaugh, Gage (Shelby) Reynolds, Grady (Issy) White all Mattoon, IL; three great grandsons, Matthew Heinbaugh, Sam Reynolds, and Lucian Colvis. He is also survived by one sister Shirley (Lawrence) Annis and a sister-in-law, Rae Christensen.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and his twin brother, Jerry Eugene Christensen.

Larry graduated from Mattoon High School in 1963. 

Larry held several positions through the years. He worked in maintenance at Oklahoma State University, he worked for the Arcola Grain Elevator, he worked as a Security Guard for Blue Cross and Blue Shield for several years and as manager of Tidal Wave Car Wash in Mattoon.

Larry was a member of the Marshall Avenue Christian Church in Mattoon, IL.

Larry enjoyed fishing along the Kaskaskia River in Northern Coles County, especially back in the day when you could fish in the shadow of an old iron bridge. He also enjoyed “Country Cruising” as he called it, a simple relaxing drive through the country, and he also liked to mow his yard, he was meticulous. His favorite thing to do was simply spend time with family and friends, especially his grandsons.
