Larry Eugene Stovall, 87, of Arcola, IL passed away at 6:38 P.M. on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at his residence.
Larry was born on August 6, 1934, in Decatur, IL. He was a son of Forrest C. and Ina Marie (Barnes) Stovall. He married Jeanette Sue Banhart on August 23, 1953, in Flora, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette of Arcola, IL, two daughters, Deborah J. Hall and her husband Steve of Arcola, IL and Penny Sue McKibben and her husband Rick of Mt. Zion, IL, four grandchildren, Haley Buono and her husband Mario, Olympia, WA, Leslie Karcher and her husband Bryon of Arcola, IL, Justin McKibben and his wife Lindsey of Decatur, IL and Joshua McKibben and his wife Kristen of Mandeville, LA, seven great-grandchildren, Ben and Ellie Buono, Callie and Brody Karcher, Parker and Tatum McKibben and Kinsley McKibben, and one sister, Donna Beers of St. Charles, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Jackie Hurst and her husband Jack, Janet Bierman and her husband Kenneth, and Judy Seymore and her husband Lee, one brother, James Allen Stovall, and a brother-in-law, Ed Beers.
Larry worked for Dow Chemical for 15 years. He worked in the oil fields in Flora, IL, Beaumont, TX and later Pontiac, IL, starting out as a truck driver and ending up as an engineer. Larry and Jeanette moved to Arcola in 1971. Larry worked for S&K Rigging for 26 years, retiring as a warehouse manager. After he retired from S&K, he drove a delivery truck for J&M Representatives and later for G L Doemelt Inc.
Larry was a member of the First Christian Church of Arcola, he was a life member of the Arcola Masonic Lodge, 366 AF and AM for the past 47 years and he had been a member of the Arcola Lions Club.
Larry was an avid NASCAR fan. His favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. He enjoyed collecting Earnhardt memorabilia. Larry and his family attended many NASCAR races, making it to Daytona, FL 12 years in a row. They also went on many bus tours.
A memorial celebration will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Penn Station, in Arthur, IL. A time of fellowship for family and friends will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Penn Station. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
