Leonard Rex "Sac" Anderson, 91, of Arcola, IL passed away at 2:10 A.M. on Friday, March 14, 2008 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville, IL.
Mr. Anderson was born on December 31, 1916 in Fairfield, Iowa. He was a son of Samuel Edward and Edna Bell (Scott) Anderson. He married Lillian Janes on July 4, 1938 in Arcola, IL. She passed away on January 17, 1985.
He is survived by seven children; Larry Ronald Anderson and his wife Sharon of Tuscola, IL, Sue Clark and her husband John of Champaign, IL, Phillip Anderson and his wife Debbie of Arcola, IL, William " Bill" Anderson and his wife Rita of Arcola, IL, Dennis Anderson and his wife Dorothy of Mattoon, IL, Ken Anderson and his wife Mary Ann of Mattoon, IL and Lynn Blissard of Phoenix, AZ; twenty eight grandchildren; fifty three great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one half brother; two step brothers and one step sister.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian, one grandson, Troy Clark, two great-grandchildren, Brianna and Jacob VonBehren, three brothers, Howard, Orville and John Anderson, one sister Icie Huckstep and a long time friend, Vivian Russell.
Mr. Anderson was an Army veteran of WWII having served in Patton's third Army. He was a Life member of the Arcola VFW Post 7862, the Moose in Tuscola and Mid West Truckers Association.
He owned and operated Anderson's Package Delivery since 1950, from which he retired in 2001.
Mr. Anderson was an avid bowler and enjoyed collecting and restoring John Deere tractors in his later years. He also enjoyed gardening and growing broomcorn for the annual Broomcorn Festival.
