LEOTA AGNES PARTLOW, 89 of Springfield, IL formerly of Arcola, IL passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at her son’s residence in Springfield, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main in Arcola, IL. Rev. Jess Adams will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon until 2:00 P.M. service time on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the funeral home.
Leota was born on November 8, 1922 in Humboldt, IL. She was a daughter of Frank and Lutie (Payne) Ammons. She married Alvin Partlow on July 4, 1942 and later gave birth to Jerry Partlow. She divorced Alvin and he preceded her in death.
Leota was one of three children; her brother, Paul Ammons and her sister, Venita Stuart, both preceded her in death.
Leota grew up in Arcola, IL and lived there until January of 2002 when she moved to Springfield, IL to live with her son Jerry and his five children. While in Arcola, IL she worked as a bookkeeper for CIPS in Tuscola, IL and retired from there with over thirty years of service. She also worked as an Avon representative for several years, winning numerous awards, including being named top ten salesperson in the district. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Arcola, IL, where she spent many years keeping the church’s records. She made many lifelong friends and will be fondly remembered for her friendly and giving personality.
She will forever be remembered by her son Jerry, her daughter in law Margaret, and her five grandchildren; Jeffrey D. Partlow, Mark A. Partlow, Matthew E. Partlow, Jonathan D. Partlow, and Jennifer E. Partlow, all of Springfield, Illinois and also will be lovingly missed by her great granddaughter, Olivia Partlow, of Williamsville, Illinois as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Leota very much loved spending her time surrounded by family and friends and always looked forward to going to the Muni opera, trips to Steak and Shake for a vanilla shake, and drives through Washington Park. One of her most remembered physical traits was her beautiful contagious smile. She loved dogs and cats and took in many strays over the years. She loved to cook for everyone, homemade noodles and pies being her specialty.
