LESTER CLARENCE WILSON, 90, of Arthur, IL passed away at 3:35 A.M. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main Street in Arcola, IL. Rev. Ron Bartanen will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour before the funeral at the funeral home.
Lester was born June 9, 1920 in Norris City in White County, IL. He was a son of Clarence Andrew and Cora (Walters) Wilson. He married Virginia Mary Verhoeks August 17, 1942 in Ontario, California. She passed away August 6, 2003.
Survivors include one son, David L. Wilson and his wife, Cheryl, of Belleville, IL; two daughters, Carol Yoder of Arthur, IL and Sue Daniels of Bloomington, IL; two brothers, Roy Wilson of Herscher, IL and Joyce Wilson and his wife, Doris, of Gaffaney, SC; two grandchildren; Shelly Brough and her husband, Russell, of Arthur, IL and William Wilson and his wife Julie of Las Vegas, NA; three great-grandchildren, Megan Brough, Logan Brough and Austin Wilson; two step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Burdick and Kathleen Wright, one brother, Louis Wilson and one son-in-law Richard Yoder.
Lester was a long time member of the Tuscola United Presbyterian Church and attended the Parkville United Methodist Church, the Arthur Church of Christ and the Arthur Mennonite Church.
Lester was employed as a chemical operator at USI Chemical plant in Tuscola, IL for 26 ½ years. He retired July 1, 1985. Lester served as a Sergeant in the Air Force during WW II. He was also a member of the American Legion post at Atwood, IL.
