LLOYD V. EDWARDS, 81, of Arcola, IL passed away at 5:37 A.M. on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Arcola Health Care Center.

Graveside funeral services with military rites conducted by the Arcola VFW will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the Arcola Cemetery. Rev. Harold Williamson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main in Arcola IL

Lloyd was born on May 25, 1929 in Arcola, IL. He was a son of Harry Franklin and Mayme Gladys ( Depoister) Edwards. He married Delores Fae VanCleave on November 5, 1947 in Arcola, IL. She passed away on December 16, 2006.

He is survived by three daughters, Debbie Dooley and her husband Dave of Lawrenceville, IL, Janet Magelli and her husband Pete of Wilmington, NC and Lori Edwards of Champaign, IL; three grandchildren, Mallory Magelli, David Dooley and Dara Dooley; one brother, Bill Edwards of Mattoon, IL and one sister Phyllis Shull and her husband Jim of Rensselaer, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother, Charles “Chuck” Edwards.

Lloyd was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He worked at the University of Illinois as a painter for 35 years. People from Arcola will remember him for his constant smile and his perseverance to overcome a disabling stroke at the age of 54.
