Biography

LOIS I. BYERLY, 88, of Arcola, IL passed away at 10:48 P.M. on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the Arthur Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 E. Main in Arcola, IL. Rev. Phil Nevius will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake Fork Cemetery in rural Atwood, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the funeral home.

Lois was born on September 12, 1924 in Ivesdale, IL. She was the daughter of Homer G. and Mildred Elizabeth (Brewer) Quick. She married Frank James Vecchio in April of 1951, in Champaign, IL, and later married Eugene Byerly in February of 1970 in Arcola, IL. Eugene passed away in 1996.

She is survived by two children, Michael Vecchio and his wife Crystal of Philo, IL and Diane Good and her husband David of Arcola, IL; one step-daughter, Betty Ryan and her husband Pat of Decatur, IL; six grandchildren, Justin Vecchio and his wife Kim of Philo, IL, Dustin Baker and his wife Lesley of Arcola, IL, Chris Good of Champaign, IL, Julie Gauna of Arcola, IL, Millie Walsh and her husband Nick of Decatur, IL, and Megan Mulvaney and her husband Mike of Camargo, IL; thirteen great-grandchildren, Corbin and Abby Rix and Alex Vecchio, Avery Baker, Bailey, Brody, Marley and Reese Good, Cecilia, Natalie and Katrina Gauna and Ryan and Abigail Walsh; one brother, Gilbert Quick of Bement, IL and one sister-in-law, Phyllis Quick of Edinburg, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Lowell Quick and one sister-in-law, Nancy Quick.

Lois was a serving member of the USO and reigned as Queen for 3 years.

She was employed as a secretary at SIEG and Co. of Champaign, IL, Kaiser Abstract Co. of Monticello, IL and Progress Industries of Arthur, IL.

Lois was a member of the First Christian Church of Arcola, IL, she was a 50+ year member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Hindsboro Home Extension Unit.

After marrying Gene she became a farm wife. She loved helping Gene farm, gardening and always did a lot of canning. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Arcola, IL or Peace Meals.
