Loretta Grant

Loretta Grant, 89, of Arthur, IL passed away at 7:40 PM on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at the Imboden Creek Senior Living in Decatur, IL with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30PM on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, IL.  Burial will follow in the Chesterville Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the funeral home.

Loretta was born on January 13, 1935 in Tuscola, IL. She was the daughter of Dewey and Alice Leota (Warner) Grant.

She is survived by one brother, Gary Grant and his wife Mary of Knoxville, TN, six nieces and nephews that were like her children, Philip, Mike, Lisa, Cindy, Kathy and Shari, several great nieces and great nephews and a brother-in-law, Myron Riggs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Grant and Alice Hendrickson and her husband Paul, one sister, Lois Riggs, a special friend Francis Blaudow, and her beloved dog, Boise.

Loretta was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church in Arthur, IL and the Tuscola Moose Lodge for several years.

Loretta graduated from Arthur High School and later pursued her passion by attending Beauty School in Champaign, IL. She dedicated her life to her career as a beautician for 60 years, working at the Swivel Shop in Tuscola, IL and serving the surrounding areas. Loretta retired after 60 years to care for her mother when she became ill. 

Loretta loved to connect with others and brighten their day with her warm conversations. In her free time, she enjoyed a variety of hobbies that brought her joy, including golfing with her sister, mushroom hunting, fishing and picking up walnuts. Shopping for clothes and shoes was another favorite, along with cherishing moments spent with her family and friends.
