LOY M. TUCKER, 84, of Arcola, IL passed away at 10:03 A.M. on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Edwards Funeral Home. Rev. Brett Hammond will officiate. Burial with Military Rights will be in the Humboldt Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday July 18, 2013 at the funeral home.
Loy was born on March 3, 1929 in Pope County, AR. He was a son of Steve and Burley Rose (Tillery) Tucker. He married Alleen Boswell on January 2, 1951 in Piggott, AR.
He is survived by his Loving wife of 62 and a half years, Alleen Tucker of Arcola, IL; 3 daughters; Deborah Pforr and her husband Kevin of Kansas, IL, Rhonda Dodson and her husband Edward of Medicine Park, OK, and Frankie VanMeter of Mattoon, IL; sisters, Marie Grey of Malden, MO, Lorene Matthews and her husband Del of Melbourne, FL, Johnnie Mae LeCroy of St. Peters, MO, Frances Stapleton of Columbia, TN, Mary Walker of Warrensburg, IL, and Peggy Tucker of Decatur, IL; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one adopted son Ben McCarley of Medicine Park, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sons, Floyd and Lloyd Tucker, 2 brothers; Herbert and Raymond Tucker, 2 sisters; Irene Brown and Ima Marlow, 1 half-brother, David Pitts and a great-grandson, Cody Sojack.
Loy was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from USI in Tuscola, IL in April of 1991after 34 years.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, watching old shows on TV like Walker Texas Ranger and old John Wayne movies. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren.
