Margaret Combs

MARGARET ALICE (SWISHER) COMBS, 91, of Hindsboro, IL passed away at 7:35 P.M. on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Edwards Funeral Home. Todd Nolen will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Hindsboro, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.

Margaret was born on January 1, 1921 in Coles County, IL. She was a daughter of Frank and Sylva (Hale) Swisher. She married Ellis Combs on December 17, 1938 in Henderson, KY. He passed away on August 28, 1977.

She is survived by two children, Donald Combs and his wife Linda of Anamosa, IA and Patricia Howard of Charleston, IL; five grandchildren, Autumn Wood and her husband Todd of Cedar Rapids, IA, Brandon Combs and his wife Lois of Cedar Rapids, IA, Derrick Combs and his wife Elyssa of Maryland, Amy Howard-Burgess of Charleston, IL and Paul Howard of Charleston, IL; nine great-grandchildren; one brother Jack Swisher of Lake Land, FL and one sister Phyllis Rose of Plant City, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ellis, one son, Lonnie Ray Combs, four brothers, Ned, Harry Lee, Gene and Toland Swisher and one sister Helen Davis.

Margaret retired from Zenith in Paris, IL with over 21 years of service.

She was a member of the Hindsboro Christian Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and she was affectionately known as “Aunt Margie” by well over 100 nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hindsboro Christian Church.
