Biography

MARJORIE ELLEN RYAN, 75, of Arthur, IL passed away at 8:50 P.M. on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL. Father Barry Harmon will officiate. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the funeral home.

Marjorie was born on March 21, 1937 in Neoga, IL. She was a daughter of James M. and Irma M. (Ellis) Sampson. She married Rodney R. Ryan on April 24, 1954 in St. Charles, MO.

Survivors include her husband, Rodney; three children, Robin A. Mattes and her husband John of Plano, TX,
Ronald R. Ryan and his wife Lori of Atwood, IL and Donald W. Ryan and his wife Shari of Middletown, IA; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Robert Sampson of Foosland, IL and three sisters, Joan Weber of Bourbonnais, IL, Helen Johnson and her husband Kenneth of Mattoon, IL and Eileen Summers and her husband Donald of Mt. Vernon, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Rodney R. Ryan II, one grandson, Scott E. Ryan, three sisters, Norma Torano, Elflida Fleshner and Rosalie Pierce and one brother, James Sampson.

Marjorie was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Arcola, IL.

She drove a school bus for the Arthur School District for many years. She also managed the laundromat, but her number one priority was caring for her family.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home, Halcyon Unit.
