MARY CHARLENE GOODWIN, 89, of Paris, IL formerly of Tuscola, IL passed away at 7:05 P.M. Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Tuscola Church of the Nazarene, 1001 Egyptian Trail in Tuscola, IL. Rev. Joe Carter will officiate. Burial will be in the Tuscola Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, IL.
Mary Charlene was born on October 15, 1931 in Mattoon, IL. She was a daughter of H. Rabourn and M. Josephine (Ashworth) Schrock. She married Donald Wayne Goodwin in Mattoon, IL on January 9, 1951. He passed away March 11, 2019.
Survivors include four children, Donald J. Goodwin and his wife Tami of Arcola, IL, Donna Ogle and her husband Tom of Paris, IL, Dianne Alexander and her husband Tony of Robinson, IL and Ron Goodwin of Tuscola, IL; seven grandchildren, Paul Goodwin of Arcola, IL, Lisa Miller (Steve) of Arcola, IL, Erin Krabel (Jordan Lauritzen) of Oakland, IL, Andrew Staley of Hillsborough County, FL, Kristin Rhodes (Ashlee) of Urbana, IL, Deanna Woods (Mike) of Robinson, IL and Roy Anthony Goodwin (Alissa) of Pesotum, IL, eight great-grandchildren, Sean and Avery Goodwin, Tyler Jenkins, Haley and Calli Woods, Jaxson and Braxton Lauritzen and Sarah Miller; two sisters Suanne Deithloff of West Dundee, IL and Ann Forshey of South Carolina.
Mary Charlene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She was a 1949 graduate of Mattoon High School where she was a Rainbow Girl with the Masonic Lodge of Mattoon.
Mary Charlene was member of the United Methodist Church in Mattoon. She attended the Nazarene Church in Tuscola, IL.
Mary Charlene enjoyed sewing but was best known for being a great cook. She was such a good cook that Wayne was hesitant to let his friends eat her cooking, for fear that one may steal her away from him. The lunches that she packed for Wayne were always the envy of the lunch crew.
Spending time with her family and friends made Mary Charlene extremely happy and she was always incredibly supportive of her family.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
