Biography

MARY ELLEN HAVENER, 87, of Illiopolis, IL, passed away at 3:10 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Illiopolis United Methodist Church, 501 East Matilda, Illiopolis, IL. Rev. C.W. Reneker will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake Bank Cemetery in Latham, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Mary Ellen was born August 13, 1921 in Mechanicsburg, IL. She was a daughter of Harry and Margaret Ann (Blakeman) Fishburn. She married Charles William Havener November 17, 1951 in Pana, IL.

Survivors include her husband Bill Havener of Illiopolis, IL; seven children, Terry Havener and his wife Carol of Bakersfield, CA, Chris Havener and his wife Debbie of Decatur, IL, Gary Havener of Illiopolis, IL, Randy Havener and wife Linda of Illiopolis, IL, Amy Willis and her husband Greg of Decatur, IL, Abby Rosencrans and her husband Mike of Anamosa, IA and Todd Havener and his wife Carol of Harristown, IL; seventeen grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters Thelma Smith of Illiopolis, IL, Margaret Havener of Decatur, IL and Betty Stone and her husband John of Decatur, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, one son Jeff Havener; one grandson Curtis William Havener; two brothers Donald and Ervin Fishburn and three sisters Margie Crowe, Dorothy Doty and Nellie Sheehan preceded her in death.

Mary Ellen has been a member of the Illiopolis United Methodist Church since 1930. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and cooking.
