Mary Kauffman

MARY J. KAUFFMAN, 89, of rural Arthur, IL went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 9:20 P.M. on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at her home.

Mary was born on August 6, 1929 in Midland, MI.  She was a daughter of Jacob E. and Joanna (Helmuth) Miller.  She married Levi S. Kauffman on September 29, 1949 in Arthur, IL.  They were married 58 years, 11 months and 6 days before Levi passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2008.

Mary is survived by three sons, Dale L. and Louise (Plank) Kauffman of Arthur, IL, Elva L. and Joyce (White) Kauffman of Arthur, IL and Paul L. and Wilma Fern (Miller) Kauffman of Cadwell, IL; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Felty Kauffman of Arcola, IL, Alvin Yoder of Middlebury, IN and Ray Kauffman of Phoenix, AZ; three sisters-in-law, Edna Miller of Sturgis, MI, Ella and Carrie Kauffman both of Decatur, IL.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Levi, one grandson, Wendall Kauffman, one great-grandson, Caleb Mast, two brothers, Ezra “Hess” Miller and Peter J. Miller and ten sisters, Lydia, Esther, Amanda, Clara, Lovina, Katie, Dora, Susie Anna and Polly.

Mary and Levi retired from Kauffman’s Upholstery, which they did for many years in Arthur, IL.  Mary enjoyed visiting with people and helping others.  She will be missed by her family including many nieces and nephews.

Mary was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Otto Center south of Arthur, IL.  Bishop Ervin D. Miller will officiate.  Burial will be in the Otto Cemetery in Arthur, IL.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Otto Center.   The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting family arrangements.
