Mary Murray

MARY C. MURRAY, 91 of Arthur, IL formerly of Oakland, IL and Villa Grove, IL passed away at 8:40 P.M. on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL. Rev. Kent Conover officiated. Burial was in the Murdock Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.

Mary was born on July 23, 1918 in Broadlands, IL. She was a daughter of Arch W. and Cora M. (Chaffin) David. She married William Lemul Murray, he preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Gilia M. Coon of Mattoon, IL and Gloria Jean Shannon of Arcola, IL; sixteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband two sons Melvin and Harry Murray, one daughter, Lillie M. Ingram, two brothers, Max and Edgar David and six sisters, Blanch Bretz, Grace Heart, Nellie Turner, Wanda Walker, Linda Thomas and Margaret Little.

Mary was a member of the Galton Community Church.

She worked in housekeeping at Mercy Hospital in Urbana and Danville and at the Vermilion County Nursing Home.

Memorials were made to the family.
