Mary Perkins

MARY “PETE” PERKINS, 89, of Arcola, IL passed away at 2:02 P.M. Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Arcola Health Care Center in Arcola, IL.

Mary was born November 11, 1918 in Charleston, IL. She was a daughter of Williamson Barnett “Hap” and Mary Ruth (Miller) Wright. She married Donald Irwin Perkins on May 29, 1937 in Champaign, IL.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Perkins, of Arcola, IL; one son, Billy Gene Perkins and his wife, Lucy, of Mattoon, IL; two daughters, Donna Jean Taylor and her husband, Ronald, of Humboldt, IL and Ruth Ann Yoder and her husband, Allen, of Arcola, IL; two sisters, LaVone Woods, of Champaign, IL and Betty Gordon, of Newman, IL; eight grandchildren, Deena Hamilton and her husband, Warren, of Mattoon, Il, Sheila Wilson and her husband, Dirk, of Mattoon, IL, Cathy Taylor of Urbana, IL, Lisa Thomas and her husband, Dale, of Humboldt, IL, Brenda Scribner and Dave, of Bruce, IL, Ronda Mesa and her husband, Pablo, of Plainfield, IL,
Jason Yoder and his wife, Nicki, of Lexington, SC and Lindsay Yoder of Chicago, IL; twelve great-grandchildren and longtime companion, Toby the dog.

Her parents, one brother, Dale Wright, and one sister, Louise Sanders, preceded her in death.

Mary worked at Collegiate Cap and Gown in Arcola for fifteen years. She retired in 1998 from Rockome Gardens with over twelve years of service.

Mary was a member of the Arcola Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling and bowled in a league for many years at The Embassy Lanes in Arcola, IL.
