Mattie Yoder

MATTIE (JESS) YODER, 89, of Arcola, IL passed away at 9:10 P.M. on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Larry Miller residence 127 N. C.R. 200 E. in rural Arcola, IL. Bishop David Otto will officiate. Burial will be in the Yoder Cemetery in rural Arthur, IL. Visitation will be held any time prior to the funeral at the Larry Miller residence. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Mattie was born on October 8, 1926 in rural Arthur, IL. She was a daughter of Levi and Anna (Hochstedler) Jess. She married Ervin J. Yoder on December 2, 1948 in Douglas County, IL. He passed away on July 22, 2013.

She is survived by three sons, Lester Yoder and his wife Anna Marie (Miller) of Arcola, IL, Oba Yoder and his wife Edna Mae (Otto) of Arthur, IL and Freeman Yoder of Arcola, IL; four daughters, Gertie Ann Brenneman and her husband Lonnie of Arthur, IL, Sarah Plank and her husband Floyd of Vienna, IL, Susanna Otto and her husband Melvin of Cadwell, IL and Irene Miller and her husband Larry of Arcola, IL; forty-seven grandchildren and one hundred and twenty-one greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Sarah Herschberger and her husband Ura of Arthur, IL and Edna Yoder of Pine Craft, FL; one brother, John Jess and his wife Viola of Arthur, IL and two sisters-in-law, Katie Miller and Sovilla Jess both of Arthur, IL.

Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, three grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Betty Louise (Miller) Yoder, three brothers, Henry, Jess, Lester Jess and Ervin Jess and one sister Gurtrude Schrock.

Mattie was a member of the Old Order Amish Faith.
