Max Edgar

MAX ARTHUR EDGAR, 84, of Arcola, IL passed away at 12:56 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Champaign, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the Edwards Funeral Home 221 E. Main St., Arcola, IL. Rev. Vince Rohn will officiate. Burial will be in the Humboldt Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the funeral home.

Max was born December 31, 1926 in Coles County, Illinois. He was a son of James Arthur and Hazel Hedges Edgar. Max married Iris Lucille Rinehart on April 14, 1951.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Iris Edgar, their four children; Stephen A. Edgar, of Arcola, Illinois, and Mark A. Edgar, of Decatur, Illinois, Kathy E. Bickel, of Arcola, Illinois, and Susan M. Moore, of Mahomet, Illinois, six grandchildren; Calen Edgar and Kyle Edgar; Jason Bickel and Katy Whisman; and Margo McLane and Morgan McLane; two great-grandchildren, Chloe Bickel and Brevyn Whisman, and one brother, Gerald Edgar, of Santa Teresa, NM.

His parents, and infant sister preceded him in death.

Max was a member of the Humboldt United Methodist Church. He was a Rural Youth Leader and District Commissioner for 17 years of Lincoln Trail Boy Scouts Council. He was also a friend of Bill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baby Fold or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
