Merle A. Gingerich

Merle A. Gingerich, 87 of Arthur, IL passed away at 9:15 PM on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Steve and Fannie Kauffman Residence, 491 North CR 100 East, Arthur, IL.  Bishop Larry Diener will officiate.  Burial will be in the Otto Cemetery in rural Arthur, IL.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Monday, August 8, 2022 and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM and 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 all at Steve and Fannie Kauffman residence.  The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. 

Merle was born on April 12, 1935, so of Abe A. and Gertrude (Chupp) Gingerich.  He married Minnie Yutzy on November 12, 1953, she passed away on May 31, 1994.  He married Lizzie Marie Miller on April 12, 1996.  She passed away on September 2, 2018.

He is survived by sons, Leonard Gingerich of Phoenix, AZ, Ira Gingerich and his wife Elsie Jess of Arthur, IL, Marion Gingerich and his wife Sovila of Arthur, IL, Paul Gingerich and his wife Carolyn of Atwood, IL, Phillip Gingerich and his wife Elaine of Millersburg, IN, and daughters, Laura Miller and her husband Dave of Russe Ville, KY, Fannie Kauffman and her husband Steve of Arthur, IL, 34 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Ray Gingerich of Ohio, Melvin Gingerich and his wife Katie of Arthur, IL, and Alvin Gingerich and his wife Mary of North Dakota, and two sisters, Martha Yoder of Iowa, and Fannie Schmucker and her husband Delbert of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, Minnie Yutzy and Lizzie Marie Miller, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Fred Yoder. 

Merle was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
