MERLE HOWARD GOODRICH, 58, of Arthur, IL passed away Friday evening August 15, 2008 in Arthur, IL.
Merle was born on June 20, 1950 in Tuscola, IL. He is a son of Richard Lee and Vivian Irene (Meisener) Goodrich.
He is survived by his Parents, Dick and Vivian Goodrich of Arthur, IL; three children, Martin Goodrich of Apopka, FL, Lucas Goodrich of Boulder, CO and Sarah Goodrich of Springfield, IL; two sisters, Evelyn Deverell and her husband John of Harristown, IL and Linda Henkel and her husband Ralf of Warrensburg, IL and two brothers, Rodney Goodrich and his wife Karen of Sullivan, IN and Steven Goodrich of Springfield, IL.
His grandparents preceded him in death.
Merle was a 1968 graduate of Arthur High School. He is a United States Coast Guard Veteran, where he was associated with President Nixon’s Presidential Yacht in Long Beech, CA. Also while in the Coast Guard he served on the USCG Glacier and went to the Antarctic twice. Merle was a former owner of Goodrich Service Station. He was a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church, the Arthur American Legion Post #479 and the Arthur Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, music and playing the guitar.
