Micheal Dennis Jayo, 73, of Villa Grove, IL passed away at 4:34 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at the Southern Baptist Church in Arthur, IL, Pastor Doug Davis will officiate. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 Pm to 3:00 PM. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Micheal was born on January 16, 1952 in Los Angeles, CA. He was a son of Federico and Gloria (Hintz) Jayo. He married Glenda Kay Mullins on March 9, 1999 in Cabazon, CA.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Jayo of Villa Grove, IL, one daughter, Ivy Marie, of Rosemount, MN, one stepson, Nicholas Albright Sr. of Villa Grove, IL, who was father to his step grandchildren, Cheyonnah, Noah, NJ, two granddaughters, Allana Brown and Elizabeth Evans, two grandsons, Isaac Evans and Hunter Bryan, four great grandchildren, Rhiannon, Kadyn, Adrian and Dmitry.
Micheal was an Army Veteran. He was drafted into the Army towards the end of the Vietnam war serving from 1972-1974.
He had started working with his dad at the age of 11 working at JB Enterprises of California, traveling with the carnival all over the United States. After he got out of the Military, he worked in the restaurant industry, managing restaurants in California and was a co-owner, for a short time, of Grandma's Country Kitchen in Banning, CA.
After moving to Illinois in 1999, Micheal worked at Adkisson Construction for 20 years, and then as a part time Animal Control Officer.
Micheal enjoyed playing the guitar and piano. He had a jam session with Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and met Jimmy Hendrix and Janice Joplin. Micheal was an artist at heart. He loved X Files and CSI Dramas. He stared as an extra in the movie “No Mercy” with Richard Gere.
