Omer was born January 26, 1953. He was a son of John and Lena (Mast) Hochstedler. He married Rebecca Mast on January 29, 1953.

Survivors include his wife Rebecca Hochstedler of Arthur, IL; one daughter Marjorie Herschberger and her husband Ira; one son Dale Hochstedler and his wife Lucinda; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mattie Hochstedler of Kalona, IA, Mrs. John (Annie) Gingerich of Bloomfield, IA, Fannie Hochstedler of Kalona, IA, Amanda Hochstedler of Kalona, IA and Alta Hochstedler of Kalona, IA and one sister-in-law Mrs. Henry (Fannie Marie) Hochstedler of Bloomfield, IA.

His parents and one brother Henry Hochstedler preceded him in death.

Omer was a retired farmer and was a member of the Pleasant View Church.
