Biography

PAT WOOD, 72, of Tuscola, IL passed away Saturday, August 7th at 10:52 A.M. in Coles County.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Tuscola United Methodist Church, 901 North Prarie St in Tuscola, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Tuscola United Methodist Church. Rev. Patty Johansen will officiate. Burial will be in the Lewis Cemetery in rural Tuscola, IL. The Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL is assisting with arrangements.

Pat was born on March 23, 1938 in Hamilton County, IL. She was a daughter of Merrel Eugene and Thelma Phyllis (Johnson) Allen. She married Carol L. Wood on November 20, 1955 in Broughton, IL.

She is survived by her husband C.L. Wood of Tuscola, IL; three children, Bruce Dene Wood of Tuscola, IL, Brian Gene Wood and his wife Connie of Van Wert, OH and Beth Leigh Pugh and her husband Mark of Tuscola, IL; four grandchildren, Darcy Lynn Crummey and her husband Patrick of Van Wert, OH, Darren Robert Wood of Van Wert, OH, Kyle Allen Pugh and Dylan Issac Pugh both of Tuscola, IL; two great-grandchildren, Meredith Ann Crummey and Zachary Brian Crummey and two brothers, John E. Allen and his wife Betty of Bement, IL and Delbert E. Allen and his wife Barb of Tuscola, IL, several nieces and nephews and many loving cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Glenna Gregory and nephew, Randy Gregory.

Pat worked with her son Bruce at Dicks Pharmacy in Arthur, IL for several years.

She was a great cook and a premium pie baker. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, traveling. She had visited New York City, the Bad Lands, Mississippi the House on the Rock several times, Yellowstone National Park, where she especially enjoyed the waterfalls, Rocky Mountain National Park and Grand Ole Opry. She also enjoyed dancing that came from her love of country music. She made many great friends through her years of dancing.

Pat especially loved family get-togethers, cookouts and holidays. She loved Tuscola and all school activities and the friends she made from them. In the early seventies Pat and C.L. established girls biddy basketball in Tuscola and it is still going strong to this day. Pat was a very active lady, full of energy and always promoting good wholesome fun among family and friends. She loved her family and always told C.L. how blessed she felt to have such a great family. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, family and many friends.
