Paul Wingler

PAUL A. “DOC” WINGLER JR. 84, of Arcola, IL passed away at 7:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Tuscola Health Care Center in Tuscola, IL.

Paul was born on May 31, 1927 near Hindsboro, IL. He was a son of Paul A. and Mary M. (Herrington) Wingler. He married Martha G. Andrews on March 15, 1957 in Paris, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Martha G. Wingler who is residing in Mattoon, IL; his son, Jay D. Wingler and his wife Carol of Elkhorn, NE; his daughter Paula Miller and her husband Dave of Durango, CO; grandchildren Austen J. Wingler and Megan K. Wingler and his sister Pauline V. Lane of Mattoon, IL.

Paul farmed for 50 years in the Hindsboro and Arcola area. He also worked for a farm chemical company and a housing contractor.

He was a substitute rural mail carrier for five years before entering the military. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the 7th Army in Germany.

He enjoyed softball and pitched on several local teams from the 1940s to the 1970s.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.
