PETE YUTZY, 100, of Arthur, IL passed away at 7:45 A.M. on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Palm Terrace of Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL. Rev. John Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.

Pete was born on June 21, 1911 in Arthur, IL. He was a son of John and Anna (Lee) Yutzy. He married Flossie Brinkley on January 25, 1931 in Tuscola, IL. She passed away on December 28, 2000.

Pete is survived by two sons, Donald R. Yutzy and his wife Floella of Springfield, IL and Richard L. Yutzy and his wife Patricia of Arthur, IL; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey A. Yutzy of Springfield, IL, Kelly L. Yutzy of Springfield, IL, Elaine M. Courtney and her husband Mark of New Berlin, IL, Teresa Lynn Dicks and her husband Steven of Arthur, IL, Tracie Lee Williams and her husband Denny of Arthur, IL Tina Marie Winnett and her husband Jim of Charleston, IL and Richard Toby Yutzy and his wife Jamie of Economy, IN; twelve great-grandchildren, Jordan, Justin and Jason Courtney, Ryan and Laura Yutzy, Lucas and Cody Dicks and his wife Laurian, Jordan Lawson, Tanner, Tayleigh and Truston Winnett and Emily Yutzy and one great-great-grandson, Tucker Lee Winnett.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one grandson, Stanley L. Yutzy and his sister, Bertha Herschberger.

Pete started farming in the Arthur area when he was in the 6th grade. He became a mechanic and worked for John Deere for more than fifty five years, retiring in 1984.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arthur, IL. He was a thirty six year member of the Eagles Lodge of Mattoon, IL where he received the Eagle of the Year two times and called Bingo for thirty four years. He was a retired member of the Arthur Volunteer Fire Department, having served for over thirty years.

Pete enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the first Baptist church of Arthur or Palm Terrace of Mattoon, IL.
