RAYMOND WINSLOW, 80, of Hindsboro, IL went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at his residence where he was born. He had suffered a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
A Memorial Service was held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Hindsboro Civic Center in Hindsboro, IL. Rev. Bob Clapp and Rev. Tom Skinner officiated. Visitation was held from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Hindsboro Civic Center. A fellowship meal followed the services at the Hindsboro Civic Center. The Edwards Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
Raymond was born on August 24, 1930 in Hindsboro, IL. He was a son of William and Pearl (Win) Winslow. He married Evelyn Wells on August 6, 1955 in Arcola, IL
He is survived by his wife Evelyn, one son Daniel Winslow of Ocala, FL; one daughter Connie Winslow of Hindsboro, IL and one brother Wayne Winslow and his wife Naomi of Champaign, IL
Raymond was born on the family farm. He lived there his entire life. He used his ingenuity to make their farm more efficient. Raymond enjoyed listening to and reading books by Billy Graham. He also enjoyed reading about history and watching PBS programming. He listened to the radio as he worked, usually staying tuned to Gospel hymns and farm talk shows on WILL –AM. Raymond collected radios and old cameras. He studied and received his diploma on August 17, 1949 in Radio and Television Servicing. He loved all animals, nature, wildlife and conservation of the soil.
Raymond attended De Forest’s Training Inc. as a young man. He later served in the Army in 1952 during the Korean War earning the rank of PVT-2. He took flying lessons and could fly solo.
Raymond was a Morgan Township Cemetery trustee for 38 years
