RICHARD “DICK” BIGGS, 64 of Arcola, IL passed away at 11:45 A.M. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Gowin Parc in Mattoon, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Edwards Funeral Home. Rev. Vince Rohn will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Edwards Funeral Home.

Dick was born on March 29, 1949 in Tuscola, IL. He was the son of Albert A. and Margaret L. (Sylvester) Biggs. He married Vickie L. Furlong on July 27, 1968 in Arcola, IL.

He is survived by his wife Vickie of Arcola, IL; two daughters, Dena Eggers and her husband William of Toledo, IL and Darla Hackleman and her husband Damon of Champaign, IL; three granddaughters, Hannah Eggers of Toledo, IL and Courtney and Emma Hackleman both of Champaign, IL and one step-granddaughter, Lacey Eggers of Toledo, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Richard graduated from Arcola High School in 1967 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Eastern Illinois University. He started farming with his dad in 1971 and he had farmed in the Arcola area ever since.

He was a member of the Arcola United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Arcola Lions Club and always participated in the annual Lions Club Variety Show. He was also a former board member of Arcola Co-Op.

Dick was an avid Chicago Cub fan. He really enjoyed farming, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Arcola United Methodist Church or the Arcola Lions Club.
