RILDA VIRGINIA GHERE, 91, of Arcola, IL passed away, surrounded by her family, at 10:57 P.M. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Edwards Funeral Home 221 E. Main St., Arcola, IL. Rev. Don Winch will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday, March 16, 2012 at the funeral home.
Rilda was born August 22, 1920 in Douglas County, IL. She was a daughter of Troy Valentine and Ethel Mae (Jarvis) Bright. She married Harold Garber Ghere on July 3, 1942 in Columbus, SC. He passed away April 2, 2001.
Survivors include 2 children Virginia “Jenny” Osborn and her husband Jack of Clay City, IL and Kenneth Ghere and his wife Rachel of Cerro Gordo, IL; 7 grandchildren, Paul Osborn and his wife Chris of Clay City, IL and Sarah Osborn and Tamee Adams of Arcola, IL, Mike Ghere and his wife Sue of Bremen, OH, Mark Ghere and his wife Viktoria of Raeford, NC, Amanda Braundmeier and her husband Bradley of Glen Carbon, IL, Shannon Beck of Cerro Gordo, IL and Duane Ghere of Cerro Gordo, IL.
Her husband; 1 granddaughter in-law Julie Ghere; and 12 siblings Oral Donnley, Lucille Donnley, Pete Bright, Russell Bright, Harry “Bud” Bright, Earl Bright, Edith Welch, Leah Vice, Sadie McLane, Don Bright, Lloyd Bright and Doris Bickel all preceded her in death.
Rilda was a member of the First Christian Church in Arcola, IL and a charter member of the Arcola VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Rilda worked at Cap and Gown in Arcola for several years. She enjoyed bowling and, for several years, bowled in the women’s league in Arcola. Rilda also enjoyed crocheting and sewing and spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Arcola First Christian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association
