ROBERT RAY APPENZELLER, 76, of Sullivan, IL formerly of Minier, IL passed away at 2:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at his residence in rural Sullivan, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Minier Christian Church in Minier, IL. Rev. Norv Condy will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak View Cemetery in Armington, IL. There will be a visitation one hour before the funeral at the church in Minier, on Saturday, February 21, 2009 and there will be a visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL.
Robert was born on October 22, 1932 in Armington, IL. He was a son of Lawrence Ray and Leona Mae (Beare) Appenzeller. He married Alma Chupp on April 29, 1989 in Arcola, IL.
He is survived by his wife Alma Appenzeller of Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jitana Fisher.
Robert worked on the family farm before being drafted into the Army during the Korean War. After the Korean War, he worked as a Policeman for the community of Minier, IL. He later became an owner operator of a semi and did this for over thirty years.
Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating, motorcycling and flying airplanes.
He was a Life Member of the American Legion Post 448.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
