ROBERT DEAN “BOB” DAY, 41, of Hammond, IL, formerly of Bement, IL, passed away at 8:28 P.M. Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at St. Philomena Catholic Church, 1301 North Market St, Monticello, IL. Burial will follow in St. Isidore Cemetery near Bethany, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, July 24, 2017, at St. Philomena Catholic Church. A prayer service will be held one hour prior to visitation. Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola is assisting with arrangements.
Bob was born April 19, 1976, in Decatur, IL, the son of Charles Dean Jr. and Pamela Kay (Adams) Day. He married Kristina Hope Kerst October 10, 2014, in Bement, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Kristina Day of Hammond, IL, one son, Lukus Dean Lee Day of Hammond, IL, his parents, Charles Dean Jr. and Pam Day of Bement, IL, one brother, Ronald Michael “Mike” Day and his wife Cheryl and their children Sierra and Chayton Day of Cerro Gordo, IL, his mother-in-law, Norma Barnett and her husband Ron of McCook, NE, father-in-law, Bill Kerst and his wife Joyce of James Town, TN, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his Aunt Mildred “Illy” Reedy.
Bob was a Lakeland Community College and Illinois State University graduate. He was employed in the agriculture industry since 1998. Bob, through employment, joined his father and uncle in the daily operations of Day Farms in 2000 and manages Day Trucking.
Bob was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church where he was on the church board and a member of Knights of Columbus. He was a director of the Piatt County Jr. Fair, Piatt County Young Ag Leaders Committee, and a member of Piatt County and Illinois Farm Bureau. He was a trustee of Hammond Fire Protection District and Piatt County Forest Preserve Park Board.
Bob loved farming and spending time with his family, especially all the time he was able to spend with his dad and son together.
Memorials may be made to the Lukus Dean Lee Day College Fund at State Bank of Bement, Hammond Fire Protection District or St. Michael Catholic Church in Bement, IL.
