ROBERT L. EDWARDS, 76, of Humboldt, IL passed away at 2:57 P.M. on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL

Memorial services will be held at 8:00 P.M. on Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until service time on Monday, October 31, 2011 at the funeral home.

Robert was born on September 7, 1935 in Seven Hickory Township in Coles County. He was a son of Alfred “Buck” and Flossie (Ramsey) Edwards. He married Donna Lee Hutchcraft on December 8, 1961 in Mattoon, IL.

He is survived by his wife Donna Edwards of Humboldt, IL, two sons, Gary L. “Whitey” Edwards of Arcola, IL and Edward M. Edwards and his wife Wendy of Humboldt, IL; two daughters, Terry Hardwick and her husband Rick of Tuscola, IL and Lorrie Hawk and her husband Bill of Makinda, IL; fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dean Edwards and his wife Marge of Cowden, IL, Glenn Edwards and his wife Rosalie of Arcola, IL and Wayne Edwards and his wife Kathy of Charleston, IL; one sister Shirley Study and her husband Jim of Winchester, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Barbara Jean Snyder, one great-grandson, Caleb Robert Hardwick, four brothers, Harley, Merrill, Aven and Leonard Edwards and one sister Clenna Stillwell.

Robert retired from Caterpillar in 1997 with 31 years of service. After he retired he helped Rick Davis farm in the Humboldt area.

He enjoyed woodworking and watching the birds and the squirrels.
