ROBERT ALLEN “LUNDY” LUNDQUIST, 85, of Arthur, IL passed away at 3:45 P.M. on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Arthur Home.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Vine Street Christian Church, 249 South Vine Street, in Arthur, IL. Rev. Dawn Ingram will officiate. Mr. Lundquist was born on October 2, 1926 in Bloomington, IL. He was a son of Noble L. and Florence (Welch) Lundquist. He married Rose Stock on December 27, 1952 in Arthur, IL.

He is survived by his wife Rose of Arthur, IL; two children, Beth Jones and her husband Ron of Owatonna, MN and Bob Lundquist and his wife Sue of West Chester, PA and five grandchildren, Emily, Sara and Pete Jones all of Owatonna, MN, Megan Lundquist of Washington, DC and David Lundquist of West Chester, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Noble L. Lundquist, Jr. and one sister, Dolores McPherson.

Mr. Lundquist graduated from Bloomington High School. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He received a bachelor’s degree from Illinois Wesleyan University where he belonged to the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He was employed at Hart Schaffner Marx in Chicago, IL and Dewenter’s Clothing in Bloomington, IL before starting his career with State Farm in Bloomington, IL. In 1961 he relocated to the new Northeast Regional Office of State Farm Life Insurance in Wayne, NJ.

Mr. Lundquist had been a little league coach and umpire. He always liked puttering around the house and fixing things. He enjoyed sports, music, travel, working with wood and clay and even learned to blacksmith. He truly loved to sail and always looked forward to spending time with his family at Cape Cod, MA.

He was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church.
