ROBERT L. “BOB” REESE, 75, of Arcola, IL passed away at 11:20 A.M. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church In Arcola, IL. Father Barry Harmon will officiate. Burial with military rites will be held in the Calvary Cemetery in Pana, IL at a later date. Visitation will be held two hours before the funeral mass at the church on Saturday, October 1, 2011. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Bob was born on June 5, 1936 in Pana, IL. He was a son of Roy Monroe and Agnes Elizabeth (Tokoly) Reese. He married Mary Emily Smith on March 25, 1961 in England.

He is survived by his wife Mary of Arcola, IL, one son, Robert Reese, and his wife Pam of Tuscola, IL; two daughters, Madeline Reese of Urbana, IL and Vanessa Reese of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Rachel Kerr and her husband Dallas of Coffeeville, MS, Matthew, Michelle and Michael all of Tuscola, IL; one great-granddaughter, Alexandra, of Coffeeville, MS; one brother, James Reese and his wife Lavena of Nokomis, IL and one sister, Rosemarie Boulier and her husband Bo of Macon, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara Havrilka.

Bob was a retired US Air Force veteran, having served for twenty years.

After the military, he began a new career as an automotive mechanic. He had worked at K-Mart Automotive in Mattoon, IL, and then at Tuscola True Value until he retired.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Arcola, IL

He had been a Weather Observer for the National Weather Service for many years and also had a passion for airplanes. He volunteered at the Animal Health Care Center in Arcola. Bob enjoyed meeting people and was devoted to his children and their families.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Douglas County Animal Shelter.
