Roma “Jean” Dissman, 72, of Villa Grove, IL passed away at 12:20 A.M. on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Arcola Health Center, in Arcola, IL, after a long illness following a stroke.
She was born August 6, 1940, in Tuscola, Illinois. She was a daughter of Harold and Blanche (Pickens) Fisher.
Jean graduated from Villa Grove High School, Villa Grove, IL, and for a time worked as secretary to the Dean of Activities at the University of Illinois in Urbana. She was a devoted wife and mother. In her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking, quilting, and studying scriptures.
Survivors include her husband Larry also of Villa Grove, IL convalescing in Arcola, IL; son, Eric of Champaign, IL; brother Art Fisher (Jan) of Aurora, IL; half-sister Binnie Fisher (Faye) of Manvel, TX; half-sister Becky Deaton (Wayne) of Haltom City, TX; half-brother Ken Fisher (Julie) of Plymouth, England; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Blanche Fisher and stepmother, Faye Fisher.
The family wishes to thank all of the staff at the Arcola Health Center for their wonderful care.
The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
