Ruth Ann Edwards

RUTH ANN EDWARDS, 87 of Arcola, IL passed away at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at the Haven of Arcola. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00P.M. on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main Street in Arcola, IL. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. 

Ruth Ann was born on September 30, 1937, in Mattoon, IL, a daughter of William and Mabel (Hoskins) Secrest. She married Archie E. Edwards on March 6, 1954, in Mattoon, IL. He passed away May 12, 2007.

Ruth Ann is survived by two children, Steve Edwards and his wife Debbie of Arcola, IL, and Beverly Edwards and her partner Janae Colledge of Mesquite, NV; three grandchildren, Michelle Wolfe and her husband Jimmy of Arcola, IL, Jason Edwards and his wife Jessica of Humboldt, IL, and Megan Kearns of Tuscola, IL; four great-grandchildren, Evan Shultz and his wife Paige of Arcola, and Trevor, Ivie and Blaze Edwards all of Mattoon, three great-great-grandchildren, Nala Kay Wilford, Quinndalyn Shultz and Kolsen Shultz all children of Evan Shultz; a son-in-law, Kevin Kearns of Arcola, IL; one brother, Robert West of Mattoon, IL and one sister, Joann Pilkerton of Mattoon, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Archie, two daughters, an infant, Connie Edwards, and Tami Kearns, and a special friend Ralph Hughes.

Ruth Ann graduated from Mattoon High School.

She attended the General Baptist Church in Arcola, IL.

She worked at GE in Mattoon for 10 years and later managed the Arcola Dairy Queen for 14 years.

Ruth Ann enjoyed crocheting, knitting, fishing, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
