Ruth Kite

RUTH KITE, 89 of Tuscola, IL passed away at 9:49 A.M. on Friday, April 19, 2013 at the Tuscola Health Care Center.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main in Arcola, IL with Services immediately following. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Oakland, IL.

Ruth was born on August 8, 1923 in Sargent TWP in Douglas County, IL. She was a daughter of Pete and Nancy Elizabeth (McQueen) Beightel. She married Phillip Thomas Kite on October 25, 1945 in Hindsboro, IL. He passed away on October 5, 1995.

She is survived by one daughter, Becky Seip and her husband Tim of Tuscola IL; one son, Tom Kite and his wife Ann of Spring City TN; eight grandchildren, Adam Seip (Amber) of Tuscola IL, Andy Weaver of Bloomington IL, A.T. Seip of PA, Aaron Weaver (Lauryn) of Tuscola IL, Mackenzie Seip of Tuscola IL, Shawn Ealy of Tuscola IL, Carl Kite of Sullivan IL and Holly Fancher of Sandy Valley, NV and fourteen great-grandchildren, Tyler, Dalton and Carlie Seip of Tuscola IL, Colby Weaver of Tuscola IL, Tyler Ealy of Tuscola IL, Seth and Sophia Seip of PA, Cody, Katherine and Curtis Kite of Sullivan IL, Dylan Fancher, Kali Fancher, Leah Ealy, and Zachary Dresden of Sandy Valley NV.

Ruth lived and worked alongside her husband Phil on a farm at Nip-n-Tuck until 1985, they moved to Arcola, IL where they resided until 1992 then moved to Tuscola, IL.

Ruth worked at the Dairy Queen in Arcola, IL for seven years, the Dairy Queen in Tuscola, IL for seven years and the Dollar General in Tuscola, IL for seven years. Ruth retired at 83 years young.

Ruth was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Oakland, IL and Easter Star in Oakland, IL. She served as Worthy Matron for three years.

She enjoyed baking and crocheting and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, three sisters, one half-sister and one great-grandchild.
