RYAN A. MONFORT, 32, of Arcola, IL passed away at 4:47 A.M. on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at his residence.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL, Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Edwards Funeral Home. Ryan was born on November 17, 1982 in Mattoon, IL. He is the son of Joseph Douglas and Pamela Jo (Lauderback) Monfort.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Joseph Douglas Monfort and his wife Terrie of Arcola, IL and Pamela J. Ferguson and her husband Alan of Humboldt, IL; two sisters, Andrea D. Monfort of Tuscola, IL and Jerrica Lilley and her husband Aron of Scott AFB; one niece, Brooke Lilley; his maternal grandmother, Joan Lauderback of Tuscola, IL; his Maternal great-grandmother, Ruby Ruphard of Broughton, IL; step-siblings, Lacey Vincent and her husband Dustin of Charleston, IL, David Bales and his wife Misty of Mattoon, IL, Jake Bales and his wife Rachel of Arcola, IL and Crystal Ferguson of Syracuse, NY; his paternal step-grandmother, Sharon Adams of Ridgedale, MO and his maternal step-grandmother, Martha Ferguson of Arcola, IL.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Vide and Frieda Monfort, maternal grandfather, Homer Lauderback, maternal great-grandfather, William Lloyd Ruphard, paternal step-grandfather, Garry Adams and maternal step-grandfather, Robert D. Ferguson.
Ryan was a 2001 graduate of Arcola High School. He worked at the Dairy Queen in Arcola for 10 years.
He was a member of A.B.A.T.E. Liberty Chapter of Coles County.
Ryan enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing video games and watching sports. He was a big fan of Chicago Bears Football, Illini Basketball and WWE Wrestling. He always looked forward spending time with his family and hanging out with his friends.
On Memorial Day weekend in 2009 Ryan was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Brain Tumor. He was told by specialist that the average life expectancy with this type of tumor is typically around 15 months. With the help of his family, friends and community Ryan courageously battled this for over five years.
Ryan’s family request casual dress for all services in honor of Ryan and that memorial be made to Arcola Food Pantry.
