Sarah Kauffman

SARAH J. (MILLER) KAUFFMAN, 95 of Chesterville, IL passed away at 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at her residence.

Funeral services were held at 9:00 A.M. on Friday, October 8, 2010 at her grandson’s, Paul M. Miller, residence, 334 N CR 425 E; South of Chesterville, IL. Bishop Dannie Otto officiated. Burial was in the Miller Cemetery in rural Arcola, IL. Visitation was held any time prior to the funeral at the Paul M. Miller residence.

Sarah was born on September 19, 1915 in Nappanee, IN. She was a daughter of Andrew M. and Katie (Herschberger) Burkholder. She married Menno J. Miller on November 10, 1932 in Nappanee, IN. He passed away on September 25, 1971. She later married Monroe R. Kauffman on October 19, 1985 in Middlebury, IN. He passed away on March 28, 1986.

She is survived by nine children, Andy Miller and his wife Beverly of Bloomfield, IA, Lonnie Miller of Mattoon, IL, Clara Beachy and her husband Mahlon of Millersburg, IN, Allen Miller and his wife Fannie of Middlebury, IN, Erma Hochstetler and her husband Earl of Nappanee, IN, Lorraine Miller of Cassopolis, MI, Ervin Miller and his wife Nancy of Arcola, IL, Howard Miller and his wife Betty of Arthur, IL and Betty Chupp and her husband Eldon of Chesterville, IL; one daughter-in-law Clara Miller of Chesterville one son-in-law, Marvin Hochstetler of Middlebury, IN; 51 grandchildren, 139 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren; and three step-sons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son Melvin Miller; one grandson, Brian Hochstetler, two great-grandchildren, Marilyn Hochstetler and Joseph Hochstetler, three brothers, one that was stillborn and two others Melvin and Valentine Burkholder, and one sister Elizabeth Miller

Sarah operated a bakery from her home for many years.

She was a member of the Old Order Amish Faith.
