Stephen Johnson

Stephen Ray Johnson, 69, of Decatur, IL passed away at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL.

Private funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Antioch Christian Church in Decatur, IL.  Pastor Steve DeVore will officiate.  Burial will be in the North Fork Cemetery in Decatur, IL.  The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Stephen was born on January 24, 1952 in McLeansboro, IL.  He was a son of Beryl Franklin and Jacquelin M. (Fisher) Johnson.  He married his high school sweetheart, Pamela J. Hood on March 9, 1973 in Decatur, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela, of Decatur, IL, two daughters, Lori McCann (Rich) of Roswell, GA, Michelle Johnson (Ryan Pickering) of Mattoon, IL, four grandchildren, Zachary Stephen McCann, Jacob Ryan McCann, Jaden D. LeNard, and Ambree T. LeNard, sisters-in-law, Carol Sue Johnson of Collierville, TN, and Sharon Taylor (Brad), brother-in-law, Bob Hood (Penny), many nieces and nephews, and his loyal companion, Harlie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Michael Lee Johnson, and brother-in-law, Donald Hood and his wife Lynette.

Stephen attended Antioch Christian Church.  He was a member of the Decatur Masonic Lodge #0979, Scottish Rite Valley of Springfield, and National Hot Rod Association (NHRA).

Stephen owned and operated S.R. Johnson Trucking for 36 years.  He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa with a big heart.   He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons, loud fast cars, and sunny days at the beach.
